DONALD EARLE DENTON

DENTON, DONALD EARLE - (89) of North Head Grand Manan Island passed away at the Grand Manan Hospital Tuesday, February 6th, 2007. Born in Grand Manan Island he was the son of the late Merrill and Lotti (Laffoley) Denton. Don served in the Merchant Navy and the Royal Canadian Navy during the Second World War. Later he returned to Grand Manan and worked as a carpenter and fisherman. He enjoyed working for 26 years as a lighthouse keeper for the Canadian Coast Guard on light stations on Gannet Rock and Machias Seal Island closing out his working career until his retirement. He is survived by his two daughters, Arlene Boroska of Flemington, New Jersey, USA, Patricia Hatt (MacKenzie) of North Head, NB; one sister, Jeanette Lewell (Gordon) of Hampton, NB; three brothers, Merrill of NS; Gerald of ON; and Gordon of Mexico; his grandchildren, Jay, Lori, Kathy, Vickie; and seven great grandchildren, Chelsey, Regan, Logan, Maranda, Ryan, Chelsea, and Katlyn. He was predeceased by his wife, Isabel in 2003; one granddaughter, Penny; and three brothers, Robert, Burnett, and Herman. The family will receive friends and relatives for visiting at Ells Funeral Home Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The Funeral Service will be held from the North Head Wesleyan Church Thursday, February 8th, 2007 at 1:30 pm with Rev. Charles Bain officiating with Rev. Captain Dana Dean assisting.
