PHILPITT, CARROLL GEORGE - 89, of Halifax passed away April 1, 2007 in the QEII Health Sciences Center. Born in Lahave, Lunenburg County he was a son of the late Nicholas and Mary Ellen (Conrad) Philpitt. Carroll is survived by his wife, the former Bertha Henneberry; sisters-in-law, Mina Philpitt, Saint John, NB; Alice (Bernard) Findley, Halifax; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Marguerite, Inez and Nellie; brothers, Stanley and William. Carroll was in the Canadian Navy from 1939-1945 and then worked with the Canadian Coastguard in Dartmouth until retirement. He was a faithful member of the Salvation Army. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff of the Heart Functioning Center of the QEII. Arrangements have been entrusted to Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Road, Halifax where visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 pm Wednesday and where funeral service will be 2 pm Thursday, Captains Owen and Sandra Budden officiating. Interment to follow in Oakridge Memory Gardens. Family flowers only.
