BERTHA G. JONES
JONES, BERTHA G.- The death of Bertha Grace Jones (Hicks), widow of Gerald Lawrence Jones, occurred at her residence, Lakeview Manor, on Thursday, March 1, 2007. Born in Havelock, NB on February 1, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Jennie Steeves (Hicks) whose parents were Maxwell and Ida (Thorne) Hicks of Havelock. Being a graduate of Havelock High School and Oulton's Business College, Bertha Jones was employed with Clogg's Jewelers, and for numerous years as a receptionist with Dr. J. B. Stewart in Moncton. She was a life member of the Sir Charles G. D. Roberts Chapter IODE and a Municipal Life Member, serving on the Provincial and National Executives. She also volunteered her time working on the executive committee and serving Meals on Wheels for numerous years. She is survived by her daughter Sheila Horsman (Douglas) of Moncton, three grandchildren, Jonathan Horsman, Heidi Horsman, and Bernice Jones, and four great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Gerald in 1992, and her son, Richard in 1987. By request there will not be any visiting hours prior to the memorial service which will be held on Thursday, April 12, 2007 at 2 p.m., in Cadman Bowness Funeral Home, 114 Alma Street, Moncton. Cremation has taken place and interment will be in Fairhaven Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorials may be contributed to the IODE, Alzheimer's Association, or a charity of your choice.
