DOWNING, JOSEPH (JOE) 1922 - 2007 The family of Joe Downing is sad to announce his sudden death at his residence in Cocagne on Monday, May 14, 2007 at the age of 84. His wife of 57 years, the former Florestine Bourque was at his side. Born in Grande-Digue, Joe was the son of the late Albert Downing and the late Marie-Anne Breau. He is survived by his wife, one daughter Gisele and son-in-law Michael Reid of Saint John. Also survived by a brother- in-law Zachary Bourque of British Columbia, sister-in-law Merelda Brunner (Michael) of Ontario, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Joe was predeceased by a sister, Phyllis Bernard, a half brother Amedie Downing and a brother-in-law, Edmond Bourque. Joe will be missed by his beloved cats Dusty and Marbles. At the families' request, there will be no visitation. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 19th in Saint Pierre Church in Cocagne. A reception will be held at the Club D'Age D'Or Cocagne, following the service. Interment in the Saint Pierre Parish Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
