SUSAN-JANE THELMA TAYLOR

TAYLOR, SUSAN-JANE THELMA - 65, Halifax, died Sunday, May 13, 2007. Born May 13, 1942, in Belleville, Ont., she was a beloved daughter of the late George Kierstead and L. Thelma (Stanley) Kierstead (of Saint John, N.B.). A graduate of Acadia University in Wolfville, and Queen's University (Occupational Therapy), Susan later studied Theatre and Costume Design at Dalhousie University. She was the mother of sons, Sean (Shelly), New Minas; Ian (Shelley), Springhill; Michael (Michelle), Halifax and Ottawa. She will be deeply missed by grandsons, Michael and Stephen, New Minas; and Nathan, Springhill. Susan is survived by her brother, Brian (Janice) Kierstead, Kingston, N.B.; nephew, Kevin, and niece, Karin. Susan is lovingly remembered by aunts, uncles, extended family and friends throughout North America, and elsewhere. She was predeceased by her husband, Michael Keane in 2005. Sue was well-known in Maritime arts, music, and drama circles. She was a past member of the Gilbert and Sullivan Society of Nova Scotia, Nova Scotia Drama Festival, a volunteer at the Atlantic Jazz Festival, and a member of the Nova Scotia Mass Choir. She was a former house manager of the Dunn Theatre at Dalhousie University, and worked on the 3rd floor of Sam the Record Man in Halifax for many years. She was an avid gardener, cook, and crafter. The funeral service was held Saturday, May 19, at 2p.m., led by Rev. Canon Gary Thorne, Chaplain of Dalhousie University and King's College, Halifax, with music from the Nova Scotia Mass Choir. Interment of ashes will take place at a later date, following cremation.
