SYLVAIN VAUTOUR

VAUTOUR, SYLVAIN, J. - The death of Sylvain J. Vautour, husband of the late Emelda (Lavoie) Vautour, occurred on June 18, 2007 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born 1923 in Brantville, NB he was the son of the late Joseph Sylvain and Charlotte (Holmes) Vautour. He was a Veteran of WWII served in the North Shore Regiment Infantry. Sylvain worked for CPR Winterport for 22 years and Irving Pulp and Paper for 25 years, retiring in 1988, and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 69 for 39 years. He is survived by his sons Carl (Sandy) of Saint John, Alvin (Pam) of Rothesay and Daniel (Linda) of Saint John; daughters Jeannine Petrie (Bill) of Mississauga, ON, Shirley Vautour (Dale Hayward) of Saint John, Elaine Vautour (Anne) of Toronto, and Colleen Daigle (Steve) of Saint John; brothers Albert J. Vautour of Saint John, and Joseph Vautour of Brantville, NB; sister Justine Russell of Brantville, NB; 20 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; several cousins, nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and wife he was predeceased by son, Henry Vautour, brothers, Ameda, Leandre and Andre, sisters Mary Jane Thibodeau, Effie Vinal, Elenor Breau, Catherine Malley, Dora Thibodeau, Virginia and Anna. Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, (646-2424) with visitations on Tuesday and Wednesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Our Lady of Assumption Church on Thursday June 21, 2007 at 12:00 noon. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. The family would appreciate donations made to the Lung Association, Canadian Diabetes Association or to the charity of the donor's choice.
