Mildred MacKinnon

Date de décès : 28 avril 2008

Sydney Mines Sept. 4, 1915-April 28, 2008 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother and great(est)-grandmother, aunt, great-aunt and friend, Mildred MacKinnon on April 28, 2008, at the Northside General Hospital. Born in Pictou, N.S., she was the daughter of the late William and Bertha (Carleton) Heighton. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived and sorely missed by her daughters, Janice Jardine, with whom she resided, Sharon (Evan) Green, Toronto, Donna (Brian) Scull, Toronto; and daughter-in-law, Germaine MacKinnon, Fredericton. She had six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Stephen, son, Jack, brothers, Stuart and Jack, sisters, Mae and Kay and her son-in-law, Vincent Jardine. She was a very modern grandmother, ‘Nannie’ to all and always available to listen and never to judge. Her quick wit could be entertaining whether you were the audience or the target. She loved watching golf and her soaps but was noted for her knitting skills and the male family members proudly wore her fine dress socks. Her school lunches of ‘toasties’ and homemade mac and cheese will always be remembered but never equalled! There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place in accordance with her wishes. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, May 3, 2008, at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, Fr. Hugh MacNeil officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Francis Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to d.francis@ns.sympatico.ca.
