WALTER BOYNE HOPEY

HOPEY, WALTER BOYNE - The death of Walter Boyne Hopey of St. Martins, husband of Marguerite "Maggie" (McLeod) Hopey, occurred August 3, 2007 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. He was born in St. Martins, son of the late Ira and Mable (Collins) Hopey. Walter was an Electrician at the Saint John Dry Dock and was a member of Local 2282, I.B.E.W. He was a volunteer with St. Martins Volunteer Fire Department, a member of First St. Martins Baptist Church where he was a Trustee, member of Loyal Orange Lodge #16, and was on the St. Martins Community Cemetery committee. Walter loved spending time at his camp, hunting, fishing and snowmobiling. He enjoyed going for scenic drives throughout St. Martins and spending time with his family. Surviving besides his wife, Maggie, are one daughter, Krisann Richardson (Dallas), St. Martins; one son, Stephen Hopey (Laverne), St. Martins; two sisters, Alfreda Holland, St. Martins, Myrtle MacDonald, Saint John; one brother, Percy Hopey (Norveline), St. Martins; four grandchildren, Tisha and Conrad Richardson, Shawn and Ashley Hopey; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one sister, Elizabeth Morrell; and two brothers, Harry and Clarence Hopey. Resting at First St. Martins Baptist Church with visitation on Monday from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral will be held Tuesday, 1:00 pm at First St. Martins United Baptist Church with Rev. Peter Metcalfe officiating. Interment in St. Martins Community Cemetery. Memorials to a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated. The arrangements have been entrusted to Reid's Funeral Home (832-5541), Hampton.
