
ANTOINE LaFORGE
LaFORGE, ANTOINE - At the Grand Falls General Hospital, August 12, 2007, Mr. Antoine LaForge of Grand Falls passed away at the age of 83 years. He was married to the former Hectorine Levesque. Born at Saint-Leonard-Parent in 1924, he was a son of the late Joseph and Ida (Bourgoin) LaForge. After finishing his studies at the Bathurst College, he returned to manage the family farm where, with his son, he remained involved for many years. In 1966, he started the construction of a restaurant and service station, which evolved into the Pres-du-Lac Inn complex. He had been manager of the Saint-Leonard-Parent Caisse Populaire, municipal councilor of the Saint-Andre Parish, director of the Valley Cooperative of Grand Falls, member of the U.C.T. association, director of the Grand Falls Regional Industrial Commission, member of the Hotel, Motel and Restaurant Association of NB, member of the Tourism Advisory Association of NB and member of the Grand Falls Richelieu Club. He was an honorary life member of the Grand Falls Chamber of Commerce, co-recipient of the first medal given to a NB hotel owner for "World Tourism Day" from the Government of Canada, received honorary distinction from the Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree, was recipient of the Business Excellence Award given by the Grand Falls Regional Industrial Commission and recipient of the Pioneer Award from Tourism Industry Association of NB. Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, Jacques of Saint-Andre, Jean (Lise) of Grand Falls and Michel of Toronto; one daughter, Marie-Paule (Louis Levesque) of Grand Falls; eight grandchildren, Josée, François, Alain, Luc, Dominick, Nathalie, Marc and Paul; one great granddaughter, Amélie; four sisters, Irma Martin of Grand Falls, Imelda Dumont of Saint-Leonard, Rita Raymond (Elmer) of Hamilton, Ontario and Gilletta "Lilianne" Veilleux (Gilles) of Longueuil, Quebec; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a grandson, Richard; two sisters, Sister Gertrude LaForge, sgm and Laura Clavette Lavoie; and one brother, Alphonse. Resting at O'Regan's Funeral Home, 515 Everard Daigle Blvd., Grand Falls with visiting hours Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 9:30 to 11 a.m. His funeral will be held Thursday, August 16th at 11 a.m. from the Assumption Roman Catholic Church, Grand Falls, with interment in the Saint-Leonard-Parent Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Foundation of the Friends of the Grand Falls General Hospital or the Grand Falls Manor Memorial Fund would be appreciated by the family. www.oregans.ca
