FUNK, KNUD A. - At the Grand Falls General Hospital, August 15, 2007, Mr. Knud A. Funk, 85, of New Denmark passed away surrounded by his loving family. He was married to the former Helen Adams. Born in Denmark in 1922, he was a son of the late Magnus and Agnus (Falkenburg) Funk. A retired farmer, Mr. Funk was a veteran of World War II and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Grand Falls Branch 21. He was also a member of Colebrooke Lodge #39, F. & A.M. Besides his wife, he is survived by four daughters, Diane Holt (Hymie Surkis) of Bathurst, Debbie (Kevin McNabb) of Bradford, Ontario, Lynn (Paul Osborne) of Burlington, Ontario and Colleen (Ronald Hansen) of New Denmark, daughter-in-law, Dorothy (late Paul) of Riley Brook, 11 grandchildren, five great grandchildren, one sister, Eleanor Hawkes of Sussex, as well as nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Paul in 1991, as well as his brother, Elmer Funk and his sister, Greta O'Hara. Resting at O'Regan's Funeral Home, 515 Everard Daigle Blvd., Grand Falls, with visiting hours Thursday, August 16th from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. He will then be resting at the St. Ansgar's Anglican Church, New Denmark on Friday, August 17th from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m., at which time his funeral service will be held, with Mr. Dick Black officiating. Interment will follow in the adjoining cemetery. There will be a legion memorial service Thursday at 7:30 p.m. For those who wish, donations to the St. Ansgar's Memorial Fund or the Foundation of the Friends of the Grand Falls General Hospital would be appreciated by the family. www.oregans.ca
