AMELIA BURSICH

BURSICH, AMELIA - It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that Peter Bursich and sons Tony and Hugo, announce the passing of their wife and mother, Amelia Bursich (Sirotti) on September 15th, 2007 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born and raised in Grimalda, Italy on October 17, 1919, she made her way to Canada with her husband and three children landing at "Pier 21" in Halifax on April 10th, 1960. Shortly thereafter arriving in Saint John "Free" to raise her family in a new world with all of the challenges it entailed as her husband Peter worked for John A. Kennedy Refrigeration for 21 years and then worked for the city of Saint John in the Recreation Department for 10 years. The obstacles she hurdled, the rocky roads she stepped around and the stumbling blocks she conquered, all the time with a motto of hard work and perseverance. A legacy she engrained in her three children. Her culinary skills brought delight to all who dined within the suttle gentleness of her home. While her strength of spirit and gusto will remain with her family, her void will be heartfelt by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband, Peter, sons, Tony (Barbara), Quispamsis and Hugo (Debby), Quispamsis. She was predeceased by her daughter, Silvana (James) Hines, Quispamsis. She was a proud grandmother to Julie, Tony Jr. (predeceased), Gino, Tracy, Tania, Christopher, Amanda and Matthew. The last few years she was elated with her new set of twin great - grandchildren, Joshua and Evan Sveistrup of Montreal. Special thanks to Dr. Lisa Sutherland, Dr. Kerry Parker, Dr. Ginette Griffin and all the staff of 4BSOUTH for their understanding, compassion and professionalism during this difficult time for her family. Visitation will be held 7 - 9 p.m. Monday and 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. Tuesday, in Castle Funeral Home "Kings Chapel" 154 Hampton Road, Rothesay. (506 - 849 -1702) Mass of Christian Burial will take place 12 Noon, Wednesday, September 19th in Our Lady Of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church, Rothesay. Burial to follow in Fernhill Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of N.B. or charity of one's choice.
