MURRAY PACKARD NELSON
NELSON, MURRAY PACKARD - Murray Nelson, lately of Nauwigewauk, but formerly of Saint John West (Fairville), died after a brief illness at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Saturday, November 24, 2007. He was in his 79th year. He was the son of the late Ivan and Hilda (Ricker) Nelson. Murray was the husband of the late Geraldine (Dempsey) Nelson, who predeceased him in November 1994. Murray also leaves his long-time friend and companion of many years, Frieda Roberts of Tennesse. Murray was the father of Allan Nelson and his wife, Sylvie Duguay of Darlings Island, N.B.; and his daughter, Deborah Simak and her husband, Herb, as well as their children, Jacob and Rachael of Burnaby, B.C. Murray is survived by his brothers and sisters, Rhoda Howard, Marjorie Graham (Bart), William (Nancy), Donna Godfrey (William), Richard (Ngaire); and many nieces and nephews. Murray was retired for many years from Canada Post. Murray will be sadly missed by many friends, especially those he made in his final years at Hillcrest Village and at McKellar's Special Care Home. When he was a young man, he served with the Canadian Forces as a peace keeper in South Korea in 1955. Serving in many capacities at RCL Branch #69, Murray was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion for 50 years. Resting at Castle's "Fallsview" Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave (634-1701). Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, November 28, 2007 at 1 p.m. from Castle "Fallsview" Chapel". Interment in Cedar Hill Ext. Cemetery. Visiting on Tuesday, November 27, 2007 from 2 to 4, 7 to 9 p.m. Following the interment, a reception will take place at the Fallsview Family Reception Centre. The RCL will hold a Tribute to a Veteran Service on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. Donations in memory of Murray to the Children's Wish Foundation would be appreciated by his family.
