MAWHINNEY, MARGARET REBECCA - The death of Mrs. Margaret Rebecca (McLachlan) Mawhinney, wife of Kenneth R. Mawhinney of Maces Bay occurred on December 6, 2007 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, she was the daughter of the late Ian and L. Beatrice (Marshall) McLachlan. Mrs. Mawhinney (Mardy) was very active in her community and her church and was quick to lend a helping hand whenever needed. She was an active member of the Maces Bay United Baptist Church, which included serving as a choir member and President of the Ladies Aid and the Women's Missionary Society for many years. She received a Dominion Life Membership in the WMS for her tireless commitment and contribution to that society. Mrs. Mawhinney was also a member of the Fundy Bay Seniors and an active participant at the Pulmonary Function Clinic at the SJRH. She was a loving and dedicated wife and mother to her family and will be greatly missed. Surviving in addition to her husband, Kenneth; are son, Warren (Lynn) Mawhinney of Keswick Ridge; daughter, Rebecca (Jarvis) Mawhinney of Upper Coverdale; two grandsons, Sheridan and Timothy. She was predeceased by her sister, Marion Billiard. By the request of her family, there will be no visitation at the funeral home. However, the funeral service for all those wishing to attend will be held on Sunday, December 9, 2007 at 2 pm from Castle's "Fallsview" Funeral Home Chapel, 309 Lancaster Ave., Saint John, N.B. (634-1701) followed by interment in Maces Bay Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mrs. Mawhinney to a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by her family.
