J. PAUL O'HARA
O'HARA, J. PAUL - After 3 full periods, and a game that could have gone either way, Paul O'Hara and his team accepted that he would be leaving them behind as he was called up to a higher level on January 1st, 2008. He is survived by his high school sweetheart of 35 years, Libby - Elizabeth Corbin, his best friend, son, Ryan (Sarah Garnett) of Edmonton, Alberta and his princess and precious daughter, Megan, Saint Thomas University, Fredericton. Paul also leaves behind his inspirational father, Gregory O'Hara, his brother and worthy competitor, Mike O'Hara (Anne, Erin and Sean), sister and musical delight, Mary Ann O'Hara (Michael Boyer, Christopher, Adam and Sarah), his aunts, Helen and Marguarite and many cousins. He was predeceased by his mother, Elinor and an infant brother, John Gregory. Paul will also be missed from the bench by brothers-in-law, Paul Corbin, Ron Corbin (April, Adreanna and Nicholas) and Rick Corbin (Barbara and Kaleb) along with sisters-in-law, Jane Allen (Douglas, Paige, and Heather), Marie Morris (Trevor, Lindsay, Craig and Joshua), Mary Ellen Corbin (Steve Galiano) and parents-in-law, Teresa and Ronald Corbin. A Saint John'er all his life, Paul has left a wide circle of friends dating back to his childhood years on the Westside, to his adult years that took him from a graduate of Saint Malachy's High School, then to a Masters degree from University of New Brunswick, to a lecturer in the Graduate School of Business at UNBSJ and a variety of positions held at his workplace at NBTel /Aliant. Upon his retirement as VP Sales for Aliant, Paul and some entrepreneurial friends created the team Mariner Partners Inc., a professional IT services company in 2003. A place "to just have fun", this team have enlarged their number from 6 to almost 100 players over the last 5 years. Paul loved his home town and worked tirelessly with Enterprise Saint John, Saint John Board of Trade, Rally of Hope, Greater Saint John Economic Development Commission, Industrial Parks Task Force, Advantage Saint John, Business Sector United Way, Main-New Brunswick Partnerships, and the Mayor's Millennium Task Force. Paul's greatest love in life was his family. Together, they enjoyed their country life in Quispamsis, traveled each March break to the Barbados, Antigua and Florida and summer vacations to family living in Alberta which provided the opportunity to hike in the Rocky Mountains. Coaching and managing Ryan's hockey and baseball teams over the years and being a partner for the Hockey Executive for the Kennebecasis Valley provided many laughs and fun times. Paul is resting at Castle Fallsview Funeral Home and Crematorium Centre, 309 Lancaster Avenue. Viewing hours will be on Thursday and Friday, January 3rd and 4th from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Mark's Catholic Church, 171 Pettingill Rd. in Quispamsis on Saturday, January 5, 2008 at 12:00 pm. Private burial will take place at a later date. Family flowers only. Donations may be made in Paul's name to the Children's Wish Foundation or the IWK.
