
ALICE VERONICA (HICKEY) HACKER
HACKER, ALICE VERONICA (HICKEY) - The passing of Alice Veronica (Hickey) Hacker, of Fredericton, NB, formerly of Milltown Heights, St. Stephen, NB, wife of the late Everett Hacker, occurred on January 2, 2008 at the York Manor Nursing Home. Born on November 29, 1907 in Calais, ME, she was a daughter of the late William and Evie (Flemming) Hickey. Alice worked in the Silkroom at the Milltown Cotton Mill and was a charter member of Maple Leaf Temple Pythian Sisters of which she held many offices. She was affiliated with the Milltown United Church where she also held many different offices and was a member of the UCW until ill health forced her to move to Fredericton with her daughter. Due to declining health, her remaining years were spent at York Manor Nursing Home. Alice is survived by one daughter, Joan Curran; one grandson, Richard Curran; one granddaughter, Debbie Hill (Glendon); two great grandchildren, Stephanie Hill of Fredericton, NB and Richard Brewer (Anne Marie Hounsell) of Riverview, NB. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by two sisters, Mary Hickey and Ruth Dennison; and two brothers, Charles and James Hickey; and son-in-law, Robert Curran. Visitation will be held at Meahan's Funeral Home, 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, NB on Saturday, January 5, 2008 from 7 to 9 pm. The Pythian Sister Maple Leaf Temple #30 members are asked to gather for a tribute service at 7 pm. A Memorial Service will be held from Meahan's Funeral Home on Sunday, January 6, 2008 at 3 pm with Rev. Ali Smith officiating. Interment will take place at St. Stephen Rural Cemetery at a later date.
