Doreen was pre-deceased by her father and mother, Frank and Enid Simpson of Virden, Manitoba; husband Robert Saunders and husband William Lampard; brothers, Harvey Simpson and Elmer Simpson. Doreen was born in Elkhorn, Manitoba and was the youngest of eleven children. Doreen loved many different activities - hiking, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, golfing, and especially curling. She represented Manitoba in the Canadian Masters National Curling in Winnipeg in 2001. She was very proud of her accomplishment, her family was also very proud of her. Bill and Doreen enjoyed traveling to many different parts of the world over the past few years. Doreen spent many hours volunteering for many different organizations. She enjoyed giving back to others - Bill and Doreen spent many hours collecting unwanted dolls and making sets of clothes for them to give to less fortunate in the Brandon area - as this was something she missed as a child and wanted to fulfill other children's dreams at Christmas. Last Christmas, thirty-boxed doll sets were donated. Doreen had a special place in her heart for her children and grandchildren. She loved spending time, watching them do all there activities. She always made her family feel loved, safe and secure. She was loving, kind, generous, full of wisdom and humor. The Ceremony to Celebrate Doreen's Life was held Saturday January 5, 2008 at the Central United Church, Brandon, Manitoba. Rev. Laird Russell - Yearwood officiated.
