JAMES EUGENE MCLANAGHAN
MCLANAGHAN, JAMES EUGENE - Peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John NB on January 22nd, 2008, Mr. James Eugene McLanaghan, husband of Bessie (Justason) McLanaghan of Pennfield NB. Born in St. George NB on September 13, 1920, he was a son of the late Samuel and Carolyn (Gillis) McLanaghan. A loving husband, father, grandfather and brother he is survived by his wife, Bessie, two sons; Eugene (Lois) McLanaghan of Pennfield and Norman McLanaghan of Kingston ON, one granddaughter; Alison McLanaghan of Calgary AB, one sister; Rhonda Justason of St. Andrews NB, one daughter in law; Deborah Larson of Pocologan NB and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by one brother, Fred McLanaghan and by one sister, Helen Gaudet. Prior to his retirement, Jim was employed by the NB Department of Transportation for 18 years, and prior to that worked a number of years for St. George Pulp and Paper. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved to travel after he retired. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with The R.C.E.M.E. Corps in England, France, Belgium and Holland. Jim was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 40 in St. George as well as a member and past patron of the OES Granite Chapter # 15 and past master and member of the St. George Masonic Lodge # 12 F&AM for over 50 years. Resting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB on Wednesday from 7 to 9 pm and on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The service will be held at Pennfield Baptist Church on Friday at 2:00 pm with Rev. Grant Alcorn officiating. The interment will be held at the St. George Rural Cemetery in the spring. In Jim's memory donations to the Charlotte County Cancer Society, the NB Heart & Stroke Foundation or to a charity of the donor's choice would be greatly appreciated by the family. The Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 40 will hold a tribute service on Wednesday at 7:00 pm and the St. George Masonic Lodge and OES will hold their respected tribute services at 7:00 and 7:15 pm on Thursday.
