MATTY J. PLOURDE

PLOURDE, MATTY J. - Has passed away at the Veteran's unit of the Campbellton Regional Hospital on January 24, 2008 at the age of 92, Mr. Matty J. Plourde, husband of Hermina Johnson. Born in Val D'Amour on September 3, 1915, he was the son of the late Joseph Plourde of Miguasha, QC and the late Delina Albert of Grand-Anse, NB. Veteran of the Second World War from 1941 to 1945, he served in the 7th Anti-Tank Regiment in England, Algeria, Italy, France and Belgium. He was a self-employed businessman and was also an employee of Esso Imperial Oil for a period of 37 years. He loved several sports such as cross-country skiing, fishing, tennis and bowling. He was a member of several non-profit and community organizations such as the Knight of Columbus and the Canadian Legion. He leaves to mourn his wife, Hermina Johnson; two daughters, Lilianne and Judith (Nick Fraser); two sons, Donald (Jacynthe Boudreau) and Mike; one sister-in-law, Winnie LeBlanc; as well as three grandchildren, Natacha, Nicholas and Frédéric; and a great-grandchild, Kayla Taylor. Predeceased by three brothers, Albert, Ernest and Léonard; as well as six sisters, Stella, Germaine cnd, Velma cnd, Esther cnd, Marie and Bertha fma. The remains will rest at Maher's Funeral Home, 33 Lansdowne Street Campbellton, Sunday, January 27th from 2pm to 4pm, 7pm to 9pm and Monday from 12:00 pm until time of funeral. The funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Snows Church 4 Central Street Campbellton on Monday at 2:00 pm. Funeral arrangements are in the care of Maher's Funeral Home, Campbellton.
