GEORGE W. CARPENTER
CARPENTER, GEORGE W. - The death of George W. Carpenter of Ridgewood Veterans Wing occurred at his residence on January 24, 2008. Born in Saint John he was a son of the late Herman S. and Mary (Hanson) Carpenter. George spent the greater part of his life in Saint John but had resided a number of years in Sarnia ON. He was a Vet of WW II, serving in the Canadian Navy on the Corvettes. After the war he was self employed as a truck driver and upon returning to Saint John he drove truck for his brother Ralph and nephew David Carpenter in the family business. He was a member of RCL Carleton Branch #2 and was a member of ILA #273 for a number of years. He enjoyed NASCAR, all sports and TV. He is survived by three sisters, Muriel, Helen and Jean; several nieces and nephews; and special nephews David, Ralph and Kelly. He was predeceased by brothers Ralph, John, Robert; and sister Patricia. By request there will be no visiting. Following cremation a family graveside service will be held at Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery, Field of Honor. The family wishes to thank the Staff of Ridgewood Veterans Wing for the compassionate care and friendship shown to George.
