MURPHY, A. FRANCES - The death of Mrs. A. Frances Murphy, loving wife of John A. Murphy occurred unexpectedly on Thursday March 6, 2008 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born 1929 in Saint John she was the daughter of the late Joseph Leo and Mary Elizabeth (Carey) Milan. Frances was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Frances worked as a Teacher at Hillcrest School, Forest Hill School and Grandview Avenue School for 25 years, retiring in 1989. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, Catholic Women's League; and a long time parishioner of St. Ann's Church and St. Joachim's Church. She volunteered at Romero House Soup Kitchen for many years, and as a member of the Cruise Ship Meet and Greet Committee. She also enjoyed the trips to Florida every winter. Besides her loving husband John, with whom she spent 56 years, she is survived by her sons Douglas (Glenda), John A. (Katherine), Kevin (Alice) and Daniel (Anne) all of Saint John; daughters Kathleen Tobin (Richard) of Saint John, Patricia Brown (David) of Saint John, Clare Burke (Earle) of Cape Breton, NS and Tina McDermott (John) of Saint John; 20 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; brothers-in-law Cyril and Richard; several nieces and nephews and many friends. She will always be loved, remembered and greatly missed. Besides her parents she was predeceased by brothers Leo Joseph Milan and Carey Milan and special aunt Martina Carey RN. Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) with visitations on Saturday and Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Joachim's Church on Monday March 10, 2008 at 10 a.m. Following cremation, a private family interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery at a later date.
