EDWARD COLTON BLACKWOOD
BLACKWOOD, EDWARD COLTON - Edward Colton Blackwood passed peacefully away March 13, 2008 at the Dr. V.A. Snow Centre, Hampton, husband of Elsie (Pike) Blackwood. He was born in Port Nelson, Bonavista Bay, NL, son of the late William and Hester (Stokes) Blackwood. Edward was a veteran of WWII serving with the Merchant Navy. He was a marine diesel engineer employed with Federal Government of Canada, retiring in 1981. He loved to travel to see his family, was an avid model shipbuilder, enjoyed working on his car and had a great love for music. He is survived by his wife Elsie; two daughters, Gloria Baird, Hampton, Paulette Rowsell (Eddie), Tennessee; one son, Larry Blackwood, Tennessee; son-in-law, Hugh Baird, Hampton; three sisters, Minnie Barbour, St. John's, NL, Breta Barbour (Clarie), St. John's, NL, Shirley Gates (George), BC; two brothers, Bert Blackwood, (Marie), St. John's, NL, Cecil Blackwood (Mary Lou); six grandchildren, Hugh Colton and Edward Sheridan Baird, Grayson Rowsell (Lesa), Sheridan Rowsell, Jordyn and Emily Blackwood; several nieces, nephews and special friends Roland d'Abadie, Josiane Haggerty and Jennifer Sheehan, Luna and Shiretha Mena. He was predeceased by sister Emily and brother Ben. At Edward's wishes there will be no visitation. A celebration of life and burial will be held in the spring. The arrangements have been entrusted to Reid's Funeral Home (832-5541), Hampton. Memorials to Dr. V.A. Snow Centre Foundation would be appreciated.
