MARGARET "JEAN" ROBERTS

ROBERTS, MARGARET "JEAN" - Margaret 'Jean' Roberts, 74, wife of Eldon Aloysius Roberts, of Moncton, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at the Protem Health Services, Moncton, where she resided. She was born Margaret Jean Kelly, March 29, 1933 in Kensington, PEI. Jean was co-owner and past president of Hi-Lite Electric. She was very well known in the curling community at the local and provincial level serving as one of the first female presidents of the Beaver Curling Club, Treasurer of the NB Curling Association. She was also a long serving volunteer for local, provincial, national, and international curling events hosted in Moncton over the past 40 years. Besides her husband, she is survived by her children, Linda Callaghan and her husband Tom LeBlanc; their children, Jennifer and Karen of Brockville, ON; Ron Callaghan and his wife Betty Murray; their children, Peter, Scott, and Tyler of Charlottetown; Patsy and her husband George Piercey; their children: Matthew, Ryan and Emma of Milton, PEI, Norma and her husband Terry Walsh; their children, Meaghan, John-Matthew and Joseph of Sackville, NS; Heather and her husband Pat Hughes; their children, Katie, Kelly, and Kristy of Ann Arbor, MI; Nancy Roberts and her husband Thomas Landry; their children, Alina, Olivier, and Ana of Moncton; and her sister, Margaret MacKinnon of Charlottetown. She is predeceased by a son, Gary Eldon Roberts (1966); a sister, Ella Coady (2006), and her brother, Mike MacKinnon (2007). Jean will be remembered by family, friends, and colleagues for her strong work ethic, outstanding cooking, party planning, auctioning, love of antiques, infectious giggling, and long chats into the wee hours of the morning. She was a strong, loving and generous role model to her children, grandchildren, and Eldon, her best friend and soul mate. She is, and always will be, our "Lady". Resting at Frenette Funeral Home, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900). Visiting hours Sunday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral mass will be held at 11 am Monday, March 17, 2008 at St.Bernard's Roman Catholic Church, Botsford Street, Moncton. Father Allison Caroll officiating. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Dieppe. Memorial donations to the Friends of The Moncton Hospital would be appreciated by the family.
