HUGHES, BERNICE LORRAINE (HIGGINS) - Passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2008 at the St. Joseph's Hospital. Born on February 4, 1930 she was the daughter of the late Leonard and Edna (Cobham) Higgins. Wife of the late Larry Hughes. She was an animal lover and especially loved her dog Peppy that passed away after 13 years of companionship. Bernice and her husband Larry spent 25-30 years trailering, a passion that they shared together. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Gordon) O'Neill; sister, Phyllis Nason; special grandson, John O'Neill; one nephew, Duane Nason; three nieces, Shirley Devine, Marilyn Miller and Janet Kelly; and several great nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sister, Muriel Devine. Resting at Castle Funeral Home, "Fallsview Chapel", 309 Lancaster Ave., (634-1701) visitation will take place on Monday, March 24, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. from Castle Funeral Home. Donations, in memory of Bernice, may be made to ALS Society, Alzheimer's Society or a charity of the donor's choice.
