MARION ALBERTA STEWART
STEWART, MARION ALBERTA - Surrounded by family, Marion (Mickey, to many) passed away at the SJRH on Saturday April 5th in her 90th year. A life long resident of Saint John, she was the daughter of the late James and Ethel (Linton) McKillop. She was predeceased by her husband, Ronald Stewart, brother, Gordon McKillop and sisters, Audrey Hetherington and Hilda Thorne. She is survived by her son, William Stewart (Mary), sister, Bernice Warner (John) and sister-in-law, Dot McKillop. She is also survived by her very close friends, Gwen Stilwell and Lil Sullivan as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends in Saint John and across Canada. An active member of Portland United Church, Marion also volunteered with the United Church Women, Can Cope, United Way and Business and Professional Women's Club. With friends, Connie Shea and Lil Sullivan, Marion also operated a senior's shopping service at Dominion Food Store. Marion worked for over thirty years in the business offices of the Federal Stores, General Dairies and Baxter Dairies. She was a founding member of the Baxter Dairies Quarter Century Club. In addition to her love of work and community service, Marion treasured her trips to Toronto with sister, Bernice, her European tour with son Bill and the many visits and vacation trips throughout the Atlantic Provinces with family and friends. A special thanks to nieces Gail Brown and Bonnie Thomas (Byron) who kept an eye on their busy aunt. The family also recognizes the sustaining and compassionate care from Dr. Len Morgan, Dr. Mary Jarratt and associate physicians over the years. We also thank friends and neighbors at Newport Village, the Extra Mural service, Family and Community Services, Integrity Home Health for supporting Marion's independence. Lastly, we are thankful for the dedicated and compassionate care from doctors and staff of 4BS at the SJRH. Following cremation a memorial service and reception will be held at Portland United Church at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday April 9th, 2008. "In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Extra Mural Program of the SJRH, Portland United Church Benevolent Fund or charity of choice.
