CLEO A. ELLIOTT

ELLIOTT, CLEO A. - formerly of New Maryland, NB passed away on April 12, 2008 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital with her family at her side. Cleo was born in Charlotte Co., St. George, NB to the late Hubert and Lillian (Tucker) Seamans on May 8, 1924. Cleo lived her early life in St. George. While working as a waitress at the St. George Inn during World War II she met and then married her husband, the late, William E. Elliott (Bill) (d. 2006) on August 20, 1943. Cleo, Bill and children called St. George, Woodstock, St. Andrews, Nackawic and finally New Maryland, NB home. Cleo loved family & friends, Christmas, baking, shopping, playing the piano, listening to music and dabbing her toes in the salt water. She excelled at homemaking. Throughout her life she welcomed countless numbers of guests to her table for meals, sweets and cups of tea. One could not leave her presence without being nourished by her wonderful gift for food preparation. Cleo was a member of the St. George Baptist Church. She is survived by daughter-in-law, Helen Elliott (Fred Bourgeois) of Pointe-du-Chene, NB; (grandson, Sgt. Will Elliott [Beth], great grandchildren, Liam & Karen) of Kingston, NS; daughter, Geraldine/ Deanie Steeves (Gord, granddaughter, Jill) Fredericton, NB; daughter, Judith/ Judy Shaffer (David, grandchildren, Chloe & Logan) of River Glade, NB; sister, Geraldine Stevens, Poole, England; sister, Elsie (Phillip) Foster, St. George, NB; sister, Fay (Ron) Burnett, Lincoln, NB; sister-in-law, Jean Seamans, Riverview, NB; cousins, nieces and nephews. Cleo is predeceased by her parents; husband; first born and only son, Henry W. Elliott (d. 1968, Cleo's world was shattered with Henry's loss); sister, Wilma Parks; brother, Whitman Seamans; brothers-in-law, Hugh Parks; William Stevens; Gerold Weismann; Bill's sisters, Myra Morgan; Ruth Allen; Bertha Redpath. Cleo loved to bring a smile, make people laugh and so in her memory we ask today that you smile, and share a lighter moment with a loved one thereby remembering her appropriately. Our family wishes to thank so sincerely the caring administration of Dr. Kali Srinivasan. We are deeply grateful. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton on Monday, April 14, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm, and at the St. George Funeral Home on Tuesday from 1 to 2 pm, followed by a Funeral Service from the Gary E. Waycott Memorial Chapel at 2pm with Rev. Darren Millett officiating.For those who wish, remembrances made to a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
