DELANEY, JACK R. - The death of Jack R. Delaney, loving companion of Mary E. Naves, occurred Tuesday April 22, 2008 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born 1942 in North Head, Grand Manan, he was the son of the late Joseph and Winnifred (Hatt) Delaney. Jack worked as a Fitter for Ocean Steel for 34 years. He was a member of the International Association of Bridge, Structural, and Ornamental Iron Workers, Knights of Columbus Council 8364 St. Joachim's Church, 4th Degree Knights of Columbus St. Ann's Church and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 53, Jarvis Bay. Besides his loving companion Mary Naves, he is survived by brothers, Michael Delaney of Ontario and Daniel Delaney and his companion Leona Aucoin of Waltham, Mass; sister, Cheryl Delaney of Edmonton, AB; one aunt; several cousins; and one niece, Nora E. Delaney of Plymouth, Mass. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by son, Joseph Winston Delaney; and daughter, Athenea Marlene Delaney. Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) with visitations on Wednesday 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Joachim's Church on Friday April 25, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Ocean View Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family would appreciate donations made to the Cancer Society, Epilepsy New Brunswick, NB Lung Association or to the charity of the donor's choice.
