SMITH, JAMES DANIEL "DAN" CD - The death of Mr. J. D. "Dan" Smith, CD, husband of Myrna E. (Oram) of Saint John West occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on April 26, 2008. Born in Saint John, he was the son of the late Irene M. (McPhee) and Arnold Smith. Dan was with the RCAF for twenty years, and the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires, from where he retired. Dan loved spending time at his camp at Loch Alva. He was also a member of RCL Branch #69 as well as the Carleton Union Lodge. Surviving in addition to his wife, Myrna are two sons: John R. (Ethel) Smith of Saint John, and D. Wayne Smith of Perth-Andover, two daughters: Deborah McCoy of Saint John and Colleen B. Smith (Danny Murphy) of Bathurst, one brother "Buck" (Betty) Smith of Saint John, two sisters-in-law: Doreen Rankine of Apohaqui and Peggy Oram of Castor, Alberta, seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Mr. Smith was also predeceased by a daughter, Cathy Smith and a brother, Harry Smith. Resting at Castle "Fallsview" Funeral Home (634-1701), 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John, with visiting on Monday from 2 to 4, 7 to 9 pm. The RCL will hold a Tribute to an Air Force Veteran Service on Monday at 7 pm. The funeral service will be held from "Fallsview Chapel" on Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at 11 am. Immediately following the funeral service, a reception will take place at the Fallsview Family Reception Centre. Donations in memory of Mr. Smith may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
