VIOLET E. KIERSTEAD

KIERSTEAD, VIOLET E.- The death of Mrs. Violet E. (Evans) Kierstead, wife of the late Charles C. Kierstead, of Saint John West occurred at her residence on May 9, 2008. Born in Saint John on May 8, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Oliver and Anna (Moore) Evans. Mrs. Kierstead was also known as "Toots" or "Tooie" Kierstead. Mrs. Kierstead was a hands-on owner of the Kierstead Trailer Park since the early '50s, just selling the business in 2005. She was also very active with the Carleton Curling Club. She was a loving, giving, and kind woman for family and friends. The "candy / fairy lady" was known to all the neighbourhood children. Any time of the day, Toots' policy was open door with lots of candy. She is survived by her sister, Florence "Billie" Burns of Saint John; two nephews, Donald (Nancy) Burns of Calgary, AB, and Robert (Claire) Burns of Richmond Hill, Ontario; one niece, Heather-Anne (Ken) Klein of Peachland, BC, and several great-nieces and great-nephews. Resting at Castle "Fallsview" Funeral Home (634-1701) 309 Lancaster Ave., Saint John. Visiting will take place on Monday from 7 to 9 and Tuesday 2 to 4, 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will take place at Fallsview Chapel on Wednesday at 1 pm. Interment in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. Following the interment, a reception will take place at the Fallsview Family Reception Centre.
