HICKS, DR. ERIC S. - A much loved father and grandfather went home to be with his Lord on May 19, 2008 at the Kiwanis Nursing Home. Dr. Eric Sankey Hicks of Sussex, at the age of 85. He was the husband of the late Helen B. (DuPlessis) Hicks who passed away in 2005. Born at Hicksville, NB a son of the late Ira and Edith (Frazee) Hicks. Dr. Hicks was a Veterinarian in the Village of Gagetown and then Sussex. He was a faithful member of the Sussex Baptist Church, a Pilot with the Royal Canadian Air Force and a Sunday Superintendent for 25 years and served on many boards, such as; the Canadian Association of the Mentally Challenged, Crosswinds, Atlantic Baptist College, Crisis Pregnancy Centre and the Veterinary Medical Association. He is survived by his daughters, Ena Perkins (Gary) and Barbara Martin (Paul); grandchildren, Tim Hicks, Kinda Kealy-Howland (David), Marianne Killam (Matthew) and Heather Hines (Jason); great-grandchildren, Sonya, Alicia and Adam Killam; sisters, Eileen Hall, New Hampshire and Leah Fowler, Ontario; and brother, Talmage Hicks, Moncton; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife; son, David; sisters, Henrietta Berg and Iris Fowler; and brothers, Graydon, Guy and Lorne. The family will receive visitors at the Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Road Sussex (506-433-2133) on Wednesday from 3 to 8 pm. The funeral service will be held on Thursday May 22, 2008 at the Sussex Baptist Church at 2:00 pm. Interment will be at Evergreen Memorial Park, Sussex.
