IRVINE MORRIS MITCHELL
MITCHELL, IRVINE MORRIS - Saint John, husband of Marjorie (Campbell) Mitchell, passed away on Monday, May 19, 2008 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born at Penniac, he was a son of the late William M. and Hildred (Savage) Mitchell. Irvine was formerly employed both with Canada Post and Canada Customs in Fredericton, retiring in 1988. A Veteran of World War II, Irvine served in England with the Royal Canadian Air Force as a wireless operator. He was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church, Saint John, and was the bass singer for the original Gospelaires. In addition to his wife, Irvine is survived by a daughter, Anita Sergeant (Brian) of Bear Island; a son, Blaine Mitchell of Toronto; grandchildren, Dawn Steeves, Ben Steeves, and Nathan Sergeant; great grandchildren, Ceilidh, Gwyn, and Erin Boudreault, and Aadia Steeves; brothers, Millard Mitchell (Marion) of Fredericton, Warren Mitchell of Fredericton, Merville Mitchell (Gail) of Fredericton; sisters, Mae Johnson (Don) of Marysville, Helen Riley (Pat) of Douglas, Faith LaPointe (Bill) of Fredericton, and Shirley Saunders (George) of Marysville; and several nieces and nephews. Irvine was predeceased by his first wife, Marie (Wilcox) Mitchell; sisters, Gertrude Davidson and Geraldine Crawford; and by brothers, William (Billy), Dale, and Murray Mitchell. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Friday, at 1:00 PM from Cornerstone Baptist Church, Leinster Street, Saint John. Interment will take place in Sunny Bank Cemetery, Fredericton.
