LORRAINE (GOLDRUP) (1929-2008) POWER-ARSENEAU
POWER-ARSENEAU, LORRAINE (GOLDRUP) (1929-2008) - Lorraine (Goldrup) Power-Arseneau, of St. Camille St., Bathurst, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2008, at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 78. Lorraine was born in East Bathurst, NB, on December 24, 1929. She was the daughter of the late John Goldrup and late Elizabeth Blanchard. She was predeceased by her first husband, Henry (Harry) Power; as well as siblings, Milton (Violet) Goldrup, Clarence (Mary) Goldrup, Eldon (Eva) Goldrup, Eloi (Emily) Goldrup, Edna (Gordon) Gallant, Maida (Jacques) Brunet, Besse (Clyde) Chiasson, Della Goldrup and Mona Goldrup. She is survived by her loving husband Harold Arseneau; sister, Hazel (late Oscar) Gallagher; children, Michael (Joanne) Power of St. Andrews, NB, Lois Power of Bathurst, Carol (John) MacGillivray, Barry (Rachel) Power and Eileen (David) Gauthier all of Saint John; step-daughter, Denise Haney of Ottawa, ON, grandchildren, Christopher, Stephanie and Andrew Power, Gregory and Brendan Sheppard, Natalie, Monica, Melanie and Philip MacGillivray, Andrea and Justine Gauthier, Michelle and Daniel Haney; and many nieces and nephews. Lorraine graduated from the Normal School in Fredericton, NB, attended UNB Teachers College and later became an elementary School Teacher who taught for many years at the South Bathurst School. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, Ladies auxiliary Knights of Columbus 1935, CWL member for over 50 years, member of the Holy Family Club 200, and special member of the Monday Ladies Coffee Club. The body rested at Elhatton's Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst. Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday afternoon, May 24, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. from Holy Family Church, St. Peter Ave., Bathurst. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery.
