PAUL MICHAEL JOYCE

JOYCE, PAUL MICHAEL - Paul Michael Joyce of Saint John passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, May 24, 2008, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born 1940 in Saint John to the late Blanche (Poertner) and Charles Norbert, Paul grew up on the lower West Side. Active in church and community he was a long time member of the Assumption Parish and Choir and was a member of the Southern NB Baseball League. Paul worked as a Stationary Engineer with Simonds and St. Malachy's High Schools retiring in 2003. In later years he kept busy cleaning the offices of Drs. Pat and Mike Bonner, Saturn and Volkswagen dealerships. He belonged to CUPE Local 380 and was very active in the harness racing community. Devoted father, grandfather, brother and friend, Paul enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially time with his buddies at Tim Horton's where he proclaimed his Red Sox Stories. Paul was the Worlds #1 Red Sox Fan. Paul is survived by one son, Tony Joyce of Dartmouth, NS; two daughters, Sheila Goguen (Greg) of Saint John and Vicki Hines (Mark) of Quispamsis; two brothers, Ian Joyce (Mary) of Quispamsis and Neil Joyce (Hansa) of Brampton, ON; sisters, Mary Ruth Flood (Michael) of Thornhill, ON, Lynn Roberts (Harold) of Bocabec, NB, Judy Dipaolo (James) and Cathy Joyce (Frank Murphy) both of Fredericton; six grandchildren, Jeremy, Daniel, Owen, Jared, Drew and Gabe; companion, Sue McPhee and best friend Bill Brown; several nieces, nephews and many friends. Besides his parents, Paul was predeceased by his former wife, Rosa Ida Gallant. Resting at the Fundy Funeral Home 230 Westmorland Rd. (646-2424) with visitations on Monday and Tuesday May 26th and 27th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Mass Of Christian Burial will be held at St. Ann's Catholic Church on Wednesday May 28th, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Donations in Paul's memory can be made to the Palliative Care Unit at the SJRH, Hospice of Greater Saint John, or to St. Ann's Catholic Church Building Fund.
