WALTER JOYNER CURRAN
CURRAN, WALTER JOYNER - Age 79, of Cambridge, Kings County, passed away peacefully Friday, June 6th, 2008, in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, surrounded by his loving and devoted family. Walter was born on January 1st, 1929, in Grand Falls, New Brunswick, and was the son of the late Michael Thomas and Rose (Beaulieu) Curran. Walter was employed at the Halifax Shipyards during the war; Atlantic Sugar Refinery in Saint John, N.B.; and as a manager of Brinks Canada Ltd. for 37 years, retiring in 1993. He was very proud to have been a minor hockey coach in earlier years. Surviving are his wife, the former Dorothy Ellen Smith; son, Bruce (Melodie) Curran, Markham, Ontario; Bernard (Laura) Curran, Bedford; daughter, Colleen (Robert) McKay, Montreal, Quebec; step-daughter, Angela (Wayne) Leighton, Falmouth; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Lawrence (Roberta) Curran, Perth-Andover, N.B.; sisters, Eileen Jordan and Theresa Hepburn, both of South Windsor, Connecticut; Pauline Ferris, Saint John, N.B.; and Sister Mary E. Callahan, Saint John. N.B.; several nieces and nephews. Walter was predeceased by first wife, the former Audrey Noel; his second wife, the former Agnes McQuinn; son, Brian Curran; brother, Bernard Curran; sisters, Dorothy Curran, Marie Martin and Hazel Ballard. Cremation has taken place under the care of Lindsay's Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, Windsor. A celebration of Walter's life will be held at a later date.
