JAMES (JIM) MATTHEW - 1942 - 2008 CHRISTENSEN

CHRISTENSEN, JAMES (JIM) MATTHEW - 1942 - 2008 - Jim passed away very unexpectedly on June 13, 2008 at the age of 65 years in the company of good friends at Neill's Farm. He was the loving husband of Barb (Taylor) Christensen (Mrs. C) for 41 years. He left behind his darling girls, Karen Janette of Austin, Texas and MaryBeth Lawrence (Wally) of Fredericton. "Bampie" also left behind his two little sweetheart granddaughters, Kennedy Jo Lawrence and Jorja Addison Lawrence. All his girls would tell you that he was the best husband, dad, and "Bampie" ever. He loved to hang out with his girls, he never missed a horse show with Karen or a baseball game with MaryBeth and he was there to pick up Kenni-Jo from daycare every Monday and Tuesday with always a quick trip to "Timmy Horses" for some donuts with sprinkles. He loved his Jorja Girl and played constantly with her. Also left behind is his brother-in-law, Ted Lawrence of Quispamsis whom he thought the world of. Also surviving are his dear sisters, Carolyn (Ken) Howlet of New Maryland and Brenda (Albert) Schyfe of Kingston Peninsula, along with several nieces and nephews. Jim was predeceased by his mother, Marjorie (Rassmussen) and father, Gordon L Christensen and Mother-in-law, Ardith McLenahan. Jim was born in New Denmark on September 4, 1942. He worked for N.B. Power for 33 years and loved every moment! He and best buddy Wayne Russell worked many long hours together and then continued the fun even after both retired with lots of great barbecues and fun times. Jim was an extremely hard worker, but when hunting season came, Crabbe Mountain was the place to be. With best buddies, Owen, Terry, Danny, Darren, Peter and Cody Billings, nothing got in the way of his hunting time and they could depend on Jim to be up by 5 am to have the fires going and coffee on. Oh the stories about hunting will last forever. And there was his buddy Howard Farrer who called on him to plow snow in the winter-well as long as Jim could drive tractors and trucks he was a happy guy and getting up at all hours in the middle of night suited him just fine. The gang at Neill's Farm, Ronnie, Albert, Donnie Taylor and Debbie Sewell will miss his morning coffee and all his jokes and pranks. Jim loved the farm with all his heart and enjoyed working there side by side with the gang. He started working at the farm when he was just in his late teens and that is where he met the love of his life, Barb Taylor. We will miss him terribly; he brought so much joy into the lives of his family and friends. We will always love him. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton on Monday from 7 to 9 pm, Tuesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place from York Funeral Home's T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at 11:00 am with Sister Karen Kelly from LHHS officiating. Honourary Pallbearers will be Ronnie Neill, Albert Neill, Debbie Sewell, Donnie Taylor, Terry Billings, Owen Billings, Danny Billings, Peter Billings, Cody Billings, Wayne Russell and Howard Farrer. Jim will be laid to rest at Sunny Bank Cemetery so he can keep an eye on the gang at the farm. For those who wish, remembrances made to the Fredericton SPCA, St. John Animal Rescue League or to a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
