STEPHEN AFTON CAMPBELL
CAMPBELL, STEPHEN AFTON - The death of Mr. Stephen Afton Campbell of Breadalbane NB in his 96th year, husband of Mrs. Bernice (Clinch) Campbell occurred on Wednesday, July 9th, 2008 at the Fundy Nursing Home in Blacks Harbour NB. Born at L'Etete NB on March 27th, 1913, he was the son of the late William and Pearl (Dick) Campbell. A loving husband, father, grandfather and brother he is survived by his loving wife Bernice, his children' Ellen Hatt of St. George, Jane Smith (Richard) of Breadalbane, Stephanie MacEachern (Allan) of Digdequash NB and Bill Campbell (Janet) of Halifax NS, grandchildren; Stephen (Mary) Hatt of St George, Laurie (Harry) Moses of Utopia NB, Allan (Crystal) MacEachern of St Stephen, Sheryl MacEachern of Canoose NB, five great grand children, and two great great grandchildren, one sister, Rhonda Palmer of St. Andrews NB, special niece, Rosslyn Allen of St. George NB and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by one sister, Lydie Allen and one son in law, Sherman Hatt. Steve was a life long resident of the St. George area who had many occupations including generator operator at St. George Pulp and Paper, a woodsmen, fisherman, and author. He served as Scot Master for 25 years and was a member of the St. George Rotary Club in which he was named a Paul Harris Fellow by the Rotary International. A gifted author, local historian and story teller, he was a wealth of knowledge on the local area and complied information in three books which he wrote, "The Come Back With Me" series. A Celebration of Steve's life will be held from the St. George Baptist Church on Saturday at 2:00 pm followed by interment at the St. George Rural Cemetery. Visiting at the St. George Funeral Home will be held on Friday at 7 to 9 pm. In Steve's memory, donations to a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
