MOORE, JOHN ROBERT - BA, MD CM, FRCSC, FACS on July 7, 2008 at Oromocto Public Hospital after a brief illness. He was the only son of the late George Herbert Moore and Annetta Vivian Terrill Moore. Born in Saint John, NB, in 1915, he received his early education at New Albert School and Saint John High School. Graduating from Mount Allison University he went to McGill University, graduating in Medicine in 1941. After internship at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal he was accepted into the RCNVR as Surgeon Lieutenant and served in Canada and on Loan Service for two years with the Royal Navy on HM Ships. He continued his Naval Association in the RCN (R), retiring as Surgeon Commander in 1963. In 1954 he began his Surgical Practice in Vancouver for five years. Following this, he moved to Montreal on the Surgical Staff of the Royal Victoria Hospital and McGill University. His retirement as Senior Surgeon at the "Vic" and Associate Professor Emeritus at McGill was in 1985. He is survived by his beloved companion, Rebecca E. Watson; one first cousin, Robert Moore (Linda), and many friends in Fredericton, Gagetown, Montreal and Vancouver. There will be no visitation by request. A memorial service will be held at the J. A. McAdam Memorial Chapel, 160 York Street, Fredericton on Thursday, July 17th at 2:00 PM. Interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery, Saint John, NB.
