JONES, RONALD R. - (78); passed away at his residence at North Head Grand Manan Island Monday July 14, 2008. Born at Grand Harbour he was the son of the late Robert and Estella (Green) Jones. Ronnie as he was known by his many friends served his community as a Village Councilor in North Head, worked as a fisherman, operated heavy equipment, drove tractor trailers, and later in his working life was an agent for a courier service on Grand Manan Island until his failing health could no longer allow him to work. For many years he could often be seen sitting in the early evening in front of his home enjoying the company of his family and would greet passers by with big smile and wave and could always make time for a visit for anyone who wanted to stay awhile. He will always be remembered and sadly missed by all who knew him. Survived by his wife Mary (Lambert), and his five daughters; Judith Dow (Rodney), Vicki, Rhonda Boynton (Kevin), Angela, and Linda Markee (James) all of Grand Manan Island. One brother Harvard (Glenna) of Fredericton, six grandchildren and three great grandchildren several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one grand child Brayden Markee. Visiting hours will take place at Ells Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be held from the Church of the Ascension on Thursday July 17th, 2008 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Captain Dana Dean officiating. Interment will follow at the North Head Community Cemetery. The family has requested that donations may be made to the NB Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
