M. HORTENSE MACDONALD

MACDONALD, M. HORTENSE - After a brief illness, Mary "Hortense" MacDonald of Saint John, wife of the late Daniel W. (Mac) MacDonald passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at St. Joseph's Hospital. Born at Saint John on February 11, 1911, she was a daughter of the late John and Agnes (Morrow) Cummings. Hortense lived most of her life in the North End of Saint John, before moving to Champlain Heights in 1972. She was educated in Saint John schools, and worked many years for T. S. Simms & Co. Hortense is survived by a son, Daniel M. MacDonald (Barbara Prescott) of Saint John; four nieces, Louise Cummings (Willard), Ruth Mutch, Joan Harpur (Ron), and Anne MacDonald, all of London, Ontario; cousins, Rizpah Linton of Saint John, Betty Morrow (Bill) of Saint John, Urban Morrow (Anna) of New Jersey, Bill Regnier (Maureen) of New Hampshire, Eugene Regnier (Leona) of Massachusetts, and Denise Miller (Chuck) of Massachusetts. She was predeceased by a daughter, Ellen, at birth; and a brother, Arthur Cummings in 1972. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Wednesday and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11:00 AM from St. Peter's Church, Clarendon Street. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
