EMILY LAVINIA STEEVES

STEEVES, EMILY LAVINIA - 101, of Kenneth E. Spencer Memorial Home, and formerly of Petitcodiac, passed away on July 26, 2008. Born in Petitcodiac, she was a daughter of the late Beverly and Pearl (Colpitts) Fawcett. Emily graduated in 1929 from the Moncton Hospital as a registered nurse. She was a member of the Petitcodiac Baptist Church, and the W.M.S.. She was the former church organist and junior choir leader, and was a former music teacher. Emily was the wife of the late Emery Steeves. She is survived by her son, Raymond (Joan), Quispamsis;, half-sister, Helen Killam, Moncton; half-brother Wallace Steeves, Petitcodiac; daughter-in-law, Doris Steeves, Petitcodiac; eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Emily was predeceased by her son Fred, her sister Winnifred Forsythe, her half-sister, Margaret Platt, and her half-brother, Ivan Steeves. Visitation will be held on Monday from 7 to 9 pm at Armstrong's Funeral Home; the funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 2 pm at the Petitcodiac Baptist Church with Rev. Gordon Cook officiating.
