THELMA BERNICE WHELTON
WHELTON, THELMA BERNICE - The death of Thelma Bernice Whelton, loving wife of Joseph Whelton occurred on Friday July 25, 2008 unexpectedly at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in 1934 in Pearsonville, NB she was the daughter of the late Murray John and Florence (Smith) Pearson. Thelma retired in 1995 following a 40 year career at NB Tel. She continued working at Heritage Memorials as a Sales Manager until 2007. Thelma was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and an active member of Stella Maris Church. Thelma was a fun loving person who loved to follow sports. Her favorite hockey team was the Toronto Maple Leafs who she watched on television every Saturday night. She was a dedicated fan and cheerleader for her family and their teammates at sporting events for more than forty years. She was an avid Bingo player and enjoyed playing card games of all kinds. Thelma enjoyed spending time with friends and family at the cottage on the Belleisle Bay. Thelma's love of life and wonderful sense of humor brought joy to everyone who knew her. She will always be remembered for her unconditional love for her family. Besides her loving husband Joseph of 54 years, she is survived by loving children; Gail McIntyre (Don Cook) of Saint John, Joseph Whelton Jr. (Patricia) of Saint John, Shirley Ann Waterman (George) of Lake Echo, NS, Brian Whelton (Janice) of Saint John and Michael Whelton (Cindy) of Saint John; grandchildren, Brian McIntyre (Brenda), Lori Ann olde Damink (Andrew), Erin Whelton (Kelvin Williamson), Scott Whelton, Amy Whelton, Matthew Whelton, Jesse Waterman, Murray Whelton, Melissa Whelton, Lauryn Whelton and Madison Whelton; great grandchildren Jackson McIntyre, Luke McIntyre and Alexa Waterman; brother Ronald Pearson (Nadine Smith) of Sussex, sister Mabel Buchanan (Otty) of Fredericton; sisters-in-law, Verna Pearson, Patricia Pearson and Ethel Pearson all of Sussex; several nieces and nephews and many friends. Besides her parents she was predeceased by brothers, Lewis, Eugene, Melvin, Gerald and Kenneth Pearson. Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) with visitations on Sunday July 27, 2008 from 7-9 p.m. and Monday July 28, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Stella Maris Church on Tuesday July 29, 2008 at 12 noon. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
