VERNER, THOMAS ALEXANDER - Surrounded by his loving family, Thomas Alexander Verner, devoted husband of Florence Mary (Guay) Verner of Saint John passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 21, 2008 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born 1932 in Saint John to the late Ernest and Mertise (Hamilton) Verner. Tom was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Tom was a pipe fitter and worked for Saint John Shipbuilders retiring in 1993. A member of Local 213 Plumbers, Pipe fitters and Welders as well as Stella Maris Catholic Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time at his camp with his family and friends. Besides his wife Florence of 55 years, he is survived by sons and their families, Gary Verner (Lori) their children Kent and Sonja; Edward Verner (Dana), their children Jacob, Abbigail and Chelsea all of Saint John; brothers Joseph, John (Marg), Harry and David; sisters Mertice (John), Audrey (Dave), Gena (Al) and Edna (Fred); several nieces and nephews and many friends. Besides his parents, Tom was predeceased by five brothers and two sisters. Resting at the Fundy Funeral Home 230 Westmorland Rd. with visitation on Friday August 22nd from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held from Stella Maris Catholic Church on Saturday August 23rd, 2008 at 10:00 am. Interment to follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
