HICKS, GORDON - Gordon Hicks, 81, of Hicks Settlement passed away Friday, August 29, 2008 at his home. Born in Hicks Settlement, he was a son of the late Harley and Edith (Killam) Hicks. He was a fourth generation farmer on the family farm in Hicks Settlement. He raised beef cattle and grew vegetables and was well known for his sauerkraut. Gordon was a member of the Havelock Baptist Church. Survived by his beloved wife of 54 years Myrna (Perry); his 15 children Lyle (Pat) of Havelock, Rodney (Mabel) of Hicks Settlement, Sheila Greer (Donnie) of Petitcodiac, Sandra of Petitcodiac, Karen Carson (Earl) of Havelock, Kevin (Sherri) of Saint John, Carol Alward (Lloyd) of Hicks Settlement, Boyd (Esther) of Killams Mills, Brenda of Saint John, Dana (Shelley) of Havelock, Lois Brewer (Derek) of Hicks Settlement, Stanley of Havelock, Graham (Melissa) of Appin, Ontario, Susan of Hampton and Shelley Arsenault (Tyler) of Upper Coverdale; 27 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Survived also by brothers Rev. Leslie Hicks (Aleen) and Rev. Bertram Hicks (Avis) of Havelock and Dr. Floyd Hicks (Alice) of Port Colbourne, Ontario. Predeceased by granddaughter Kimberly Hicks; brothers Lee, Cecil and Rev. Sterling Hicks; sisters Iva Martin, Zora Cann and Hilda Hicks. Resting at the Salisbury Funeral Home, 3350 Salisbury Road (372-4800) with visiting Saturday 2:30-4:30 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. The funeral will be held from the funeral home chapel on Sunday August 31 at 2 p.m. Interment will be at Greenhill Cemetery, Havelock following the service. www.keirsteads.ca
