WEBB (MAYNARD), ALTA DORIS - 84 of Fredericton, N.B. After several battles with cancer, Alta passed away on Sunday, September 14, 2008 with peace and dignity with her family by her side, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital (Palliative Care Unit), Fredericton, NB. Alta was born June 25, 1924. Alta is survived by sons, Robin (Lucille) Boyce of Gatineau, QU and Stephen (Eileen) Boyce of Gananoque, ON; daughters, Deborah (David) Johnston of Lincoln, NB, and Louanne Tracy (Brian) of Douglas, NB; grandchildren, Robin Christopher (Clara) Boyce, Jason Boyce, Michelle Boyce, Craig Boyce (Heidi), Jeffrey (Cathy) Carr, Jack Carr (Cheryle) and Jody (Krista) Carr; great-grandchildren, Lucas, Robyn, Samuel, Jacob, Riley, Brandon, Hunter, Taylor and Madison; two brothers, Stillman (Gertrude) Maynard of Fredericton Junction, NB and James (Barbara) Maynard of Saint John, NB and one sister, Eileen Hartt of Fredericton Junction, NB; a sister-in-law, Idette (Harrison) Maynard, a sister-in-law, Eloise (Harris) Maynard; her nieces and nephews. Alta was predeceased by husband, Floyd Webb; parents, E. Bernice (Webb) and Curtis V. Maynard; brothers, Gerald and Walter Maynard; one sister, Lena Bunker and brother-in-law. Carl Bunker; brother-in-law, Frank Hartt, Sr. and niece, Sherri Maynard. Beloved mention of shared family with Floyd Webb of Edison (Serena) Webb of Labrador City, NL, Merlyn (Cheryl) Webb of Fredericton, NB and Leon Webb (fiancée Debbi) of Saint John, NB, Patty Webb (Terry) of Winnipeg, MB, Randy Webb (deceased) and Karey Webb (deceased). One will always remember Alta working very hard in her life; at age 15 working at Goody Shop, later Paradise Restaurant and Golden Spur Restaurant; studied business education and became secretary of Protestant School and worked for Iron Ore Company in Sept Iles, Quebec; to then go on and study hairstyling at which time she operated her own business out of her home in Sept Iles, QU. In 1980 she and her husband, Floyd Webb moved to Fredericton Junction and spent wonderful years back East until Floyd's death in 1987. Alta was Past President of Women's Institute, past Member of Missionary Society, Past President of Senior Citizens Club and Past Worthy Matron of Eastern Star. Present: Member of Fredericton Junction United Baptist Church and Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 55. She moved to Fredericton and spent 15 years during winters in Florida enjoying many friends and especially dancing there. Alta truly loved people, social events, cooking, decorating, sewing, playing piano and singing. She will truly be remembered for her kind heart and generosity. Alta's courage and determination in any endeavor in her life always gave back to her something good. One can always say when she entered a room in all her "glits", a sparkle lit up in everyone. She loved her last years with her many heartwarming and loyal friends at Risteen's Landing where she lived. Visitation is at Fredericton Junction United Baptist Church at 4pm to 8 pm on Friday, September 19, 2008. You are invited to a Service at 2 pm on Saturday, September 20, 2008 at Fredericton Junction United Baptist Church. Rev. James Harrison will be officiating the ceremony. Interment will take place at Gladstone Cemetery, Prides Landing Road, Fredericton Junction. Reception to follow at Fredericton Junction United Baptist Church. If you wish, you may express your sympathy by making a donation to Cancer Society, Fredericton Junction United Baptist Church and Gladstone Cemetery.
