DICKESON, DANIEL DEAN "DAN" - It is with great sadness the family announce the passing of Dan Dickeson, devoted husband of Gail (Young) Dickeson of West Saint John on Tuesday October 7th, 2008 at the Kennebec Manor. Born 1928 in Chatham to the late Daniel and Rhoda (Stewart) Dickeson. Dan worked for Irving Oil for many years retiring in 1994. He was much involved in his community as Coach of Lancaster Minor Hockey and Baseball and enjoyed his game of golf at the Westfield Golf and Country Club. Dan sang in church choirs and quartets in Chatham; he was also a member of St. Mark's United Church. Besides his wife Gail of 22 years, he is survived by his daughter Janice Dickeson of Burnaby, BC; one stepson Michael Dykeman (Daniela) of Ottawa, ON; one stepdaughter Lynda Dykeman (Shane Billingsley) of Saint John; four grandchildren Kahleah, Adele, Jordan and Kyle Dykeman; special niece Sherri Desjardins (Paul); many nieces, nephews and friends. Besides his parents, Dan was predeceased by his first wife Gert; two sons Daniel and James; two brothers Blair and Hugh and three sisters Margaret, Arlene and Anne. Services are under the direction of the Fundy Funeral Home 230 Westmorland Rd. (646-2424). Visitation and service will be held from St. Mark's United Church, 50 Dexter Drive, West Saint John on Friday October 10, 2008 from 1:00 p.m. up until time of service at 2:00 p.m. Private family interment to take place at Cedar Hill Extension at a later date. Donations in Dan's memory can be made the Canadian Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the New Bus Fund at the Kennebec Manor.
