
PAUL - 1950-2008 GREEN
GREEN, PAUL - 1950-2008 - After a courageous battle with cancer and with his family by his side, Paul Green of Perth-Andover passed away peacefully at his home on October 9, 2008. Born in Bath, NB on December 13, 1950, he was the son of the late Paul and Eva (Downing) Green. Paul leaves behind his wife, Barbara Green (Southan); his sons, Jason (Julie) Green of Perth-Andover, Pte. Joel Green of CFB Pettewawa; his grandchildren, Anson and Ainsley Green of Perth-Andover; sisters, Lena Milliard of Connecticut, Linda (Danny) McPhee of Saint John; nieces and nephews, Jeff (Debbie) Milliard, Michelle (Dave) Delusso, Scott Milliard, Patty Milliard, Mitchell Clark, Jocelyn Clark, Logan Savage, Zachary Green, Jackson Green. He was predeceased by his parents, his niece Kathy Milliard, and his nephew Peter Milliard Jr. Paul worked at Hotel Dieu of St. Joseph Hospital in Perth-Andover as the Chief Laboratory Technologist with 30 years of service. He was a member and a Deacon at the Perth-Andover Baptist Church. He was also the church treasurer in the more recent years. Paul was the Assistant Chief for the Perth-Andover Fire Department. He had 22 years of service with the department. Over the years, Paul was also the Captain and the Training Officer. He was winner of two New Brunswick Firefighter Curling Association Championships. He was also the recipient of the Federal Fire Service Medal for 20 years of exemplary service. Paul had 20 years of coaching in minor hockey and curling. He coached the Kelly rink to a bronze medal in the Junior World Curling Championships in Italy in 2005. He also had multiple Junior Curling Championships. Paul won many awards in his lifetime. Among them are the Canadian Medical Laboratory Society's David Ball Award recognizing volunteerism for the community in 2004, Male Coach of the Year in 2004-05, and the 3M Coach of the Year Award in 2001. In 2008, Paul was inducted to the Perth-Andover Wall of Fame for community involvement and dedication to the Village. Resting at the Perth-Andover Baptist Church with visitation on Sunday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral service will be held on Monday, October 13, 2008 at 2 pm from the church. Rev. David Ferrell officiating, assisted by Rev. Jason Hinsdale. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery.
