DOROTHY HAZEL WILLETT

WILLETT, DOROTHY HAZEL - Of Fredericton, went to be with the Lord on November 1, 2008, after a short stay at the D.E.C.H. Mum was born in Saint John, NB on December 19, 1924. She was the youngest child of the late Percy and Hazel Manchester. She was predeceased by husband, Donald J. Willett in 1990 and by brothers, Morris, Stewart and Donald. Mum had a deep faith and it showed in how she lived her life. She was a member of Brunswick Street Baptist Church, the Harriett Clark W.M.S. and the Get Together Club. She was also a 60-year member of the Governor Carleton Chapter I.O.D.E. and held many positions over the years. Upon her death she was Honorary President. She was active in several pasttimes over the years including bridge, curling, square dancing and traveling with her late husband. Mum and Dad also wintered in Lakeland, Florida for 20 years. She was a wonderful artist, especially watercolor and belonged to several art groups in Fredericton and Florida. She was a gracious lady and had a wonderful sense of humor, a great example for all to follow. She is survived by her children, Jane (Ralph Hayward), Gordon (Martha) Willett, Connie (Dave Doherty), and Dianne (Rev. Paul Thompson); her nine grandchildren, Cary (Rod Norquay), Ryan, Denny, Andrew (Stacey), Matthew, Sara, Nathan, Joel and Leah; and four great-grandchildren, Sophie, Katie, Jack and Kaitlyn. She is also survived by her one remaining sibling, her sister, Jean Flewelling of Quispamsis, NB; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. There will be no visitation by request. A funeral service will be held at Brunswick Street Baptist Church on Tuesday, November 4, 2008 at 2pm with Dr. Rev. Terry Atkinson officiating and Rev. Greg Geldart assisting. Pallbearers will be her six grandsons. There will be a reception immediately following the service in the church. Interment will take place in the Forest Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society, the Pine Grove Foundation or to the charity of the donor's choice.
