COWAN, ETHEL JEAN - Mrs. Ethel Jean Cowan of Sussex, passed away on November 22, 2008 at the age of 94. She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Matilda (McFarland) Hall. Jean is survived by her son, Bob Secord (Sondra) of Penobsquis; four daughters, Jane Secord of Sussex, Carol Kyle (Bob) of Sussex, Helen Shield (Al) of Alberta and Louise McGinnis of Windsor; two stepdaughters, Norma Paul (Ian) of Sackville and Carol Whittaker (Peter) of Harvey Station; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren as well as several nieces, nephews, friends and caregivers. Jean was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is predeceased by her first husband, Harold C. Secord who passed away in 1958; her second husband, J. Frederick Cowan who passed away in 1990; her brothers, Ora, Burpee and Fred; and her stepgrandson, Luke. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex (506-433-1176), where visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Celebration of Jean's life will be held from Penobsquis United Baptist on Wednesday, November 26, 2008 at 2 pm. The interment will take place at Pioneer Cemetery. www.wallacefuneralhome.com
