JOHN DAVID "BUD" HUNTER

HUNTER, JOHN DAVID "BUD" - B.A. with Honors Business Administration, University of Western Ontario, 1949; Masters of Economics, University of Calgary, 1981. Died in Oromocto, New Brunswick, November 29, 2008 after a brief illness. He is survived by his longtime companion, Verity Caskey of Lower Cambridge, NB; his daughters, Peggy (Bellows) of Victoria, BC, Julia Hunter and son, Paul bother of Calgary, AB and brother, Dr. Andrew Hunter of London, ON; several nieces and nephews and four loving grandchildren, Kai, Hunter, Sarah and Hannah. He was predeceased by his sister, Julia (Stapleford) in 2007. Following graduation from the Royal Canadian Naval College in 1943, John served two years as a Lieutenant in the RCNVR on North Atlantic convoy duty and in the English Channel on D Day during WWII. John was a member of the Faculty of SAIT in Calgary for six years, and subsequently was in Botswana working and teaching with CIDA at the Institute of Development Management for Botswana, Swaziland and Lesotho for nine years. He retired to New Brunswick in 1985 where he enjoyed rural life with his dogs and many friends. Cremation will take place on Tuesday. Donations may be made to the Schizophrenia Society of Canada or to a charity of the donor's choice in John's memory.
