BOARD, GORDON EDWARD CD CPO 1C RTD - Passed away at 89 years, on December 3, 2008 in Saint John N.B. He was born in Saskatchewan, to the late Edward John Board and Minnie Klankai. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy in June 1938 retiring June 1966. During WWII he served in various naval ships escorting the North Atlantic Convoys. He was employed by Canada Post for 14 years. He is survived by his loving wife Muriel Pearl Board, son Gordon Jr., daughter-in-law Dawn and many nephews and nieces. He is predeceased by daughter Marcie Ann, two brothers Norman and Melvin and 2 brothers and a sister who died in infancy. Gordon was a life member of the Bayers Road Baptist Church, serving as Usher. Teller, and as Trustee over the years. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion With Ensign Branch, Atlantic Chief's and Petty Officers Association, Royal Canadian Naval Association, CPO's and Sergeants Mess and the Canadian Tribal Destroyer Association. Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Rd. Saint John, (646-2424). Visiting hours will be one hour prior to the time of service. A Tribute to a Veteran Service will be held at 1:45 p.m. The Funeral service will be held on Saturday December 6th from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel at 2 pm. Interment will follow in the Rothesay Baptist Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or to Ridgewood Veterans Wing.
