PAMELIA ELIZABETH (PAL) WOOD

WOOD, PAMELIA ELIZABETH (PAL) - Pamelia Elizabeth (Pal) Wood passed away peacefully at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008. Born in Notre Dame, NB, on September 7th, 1913; she was the eldest daughter of the late Charles and Elizabeth (Dysart) Lockhart. Pal attended schools in Moncton, Netherwood in Rothesay, NB, and graduated from Teacher's College (Normal School) in Fredericton. She taught school in MacDougal Settlement, and Penniac, NB before her marriage to Bliss Wood of Fredericton. She was a proud homemaker, devoted to her family, and was a loving, caring mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church, UCW, the Sir Leonard Tilley Chapter of the IODE and was active throughout her life in community affairs. Pal was an avid bridge player all her life; she still continued to play well into her 95th year. Pal and her late husband Bliss were founding members of the Capital Winter Curling Club of Fredericton; she was very proud to represent New Brunswick on the Ladies Seniors Curling Team which went to the Nationals in Swiftcurrent, SK in 1975. For the past seven years Pal has been a resident of Windsor Court in Fredericton. Many of Pal's fondest memories were of the times spent entertaining family and friends at her cottage at Robertson's Point, Grand Lake. She will be sadly missed by so many. She is survived by her sons, Charles (Charlotte) Port Williams, NS, Roger of Toronto, ON, and Andrew of Victoria BC; one daughter, Ann (David) Aird of Upper Gagetown, NB; grandchildren, Pamelia (Marvin), Mark (Desiree), Karen (Kevin), Christopher (Margaret) and Jonathon; and nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Jane Murphy of Moncton and Charlotte Lockhart CND of Fredericton. She was predeceased by her husband, Bliss; son, Richard; one sister, Patricia Hinkley. There will be no visitation by request. A memorial service will be held at the J. A. McAdam Memorial Chapel, 160 York Street, Fredericton on Wednesday, December 10th, 2008 at 11:00 am. Rev. Monte Peters will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. On line condolences may be made at www.mcadamsfh.com
